The Smoky Mountain Visitor’s Center
Smoky Mountain Host Visitor’s Center is located on US Highway 441 in Franklin. The Center operates 7 days a week from 9 AM until 5 PM and offers regional travel information promoting our members to the traveling public. The Center has a well-stocked Gift Shop that offers a wide variety of souvenirs, books from regional authors, maps, crafts, hand-made jewelry and much more. The Gift Shop has developed a great reputation with the many return visitors to the region and they stop by often to check for new items in the shop.
The Smoky Mountain Adventure Travel Guide is distributed to all visitors and member brochures are available to the pubic in the brochure racks. There is a Digital Kiosk for visitors and the Smoky Mountain Host staff is available to answer questions or point travelers in the right direction when needed. Regional artists and musicians perform at the Visitor’s Center during the year, especially on weekends and holidays. The Center also offers fresh ground coffee and bottled cold water for the traveling public making it a popular stop when traveling US 441!
The NC Department of Transportation operates the public restrooms adjoining the Center and the surrounding grounds that include picnic sites and outdoor displays from the US Forest Service. The Department completed a beautifully designed renovation in the restroom area in 2015. The well-landscaped site includes displays of many native shrubs and blooming plants.
